I just returned from Mexico traveling on Delta Airlines.
As a business owner it was stunning and apparent to me and to all on the plane that Delta and their employees have given up.
Their planes are dirty, arm rests falling off, seats coming apart, and no meals at all. Pretzels are served with a pathetic offer of, "take two."
What is most discouraging are the employees themselves.
Polite, but disinterested, looking sloppy with despair on their face and in their posture. The pilots barely speak and even when they say "Thanks for flying Delta Airlines," it sounds hollow and faint.
Their Comair (Delta regional jet subsidiary) fiasco on Christmas day just underscores the issues.
It seems to me that when you are in turnaround mode the face of the business should be the one place you don't skimp.
I'll only fly Delta when I have too.
I hope their maintenance team is well taken care of!
The lack of professional management, employees not being presentable, and their inadequate services, could lead to companies' going out of business. But, the companies who are strong enough to provide good services will do well and succeed.
